Active Shooter Preparedness at Ä¢¹½´«Ã½
Follow the Run, Hide, Fight protocol:
- RUN: If it is safe to do so, evacuate the area immediately. Leave belongings behind and encourage others to go with you.
- HIDE: If evacuation is not possible, find a secure location. Lock and barricade doors, silence your phone, and stay quiet.
- FIGHT: As a last resort, if your life is in immediate danger, use any means available to defend yourself.
Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ will send an emergency alert through Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ Alert (text, email, or phone). You may also hear announcements from faculty or staff or receive instructions from campus police or faculty.
- Move away from the source of danger as quickly as possible.
- Take cover behind solid objects like walls, vehicles, or large trees.
- Call 911 when you are safe, providing them with as much information as possible (e.g., location of the shooter, description, weapons, etc.).
- Remain where you are until law enforcement has given the all-clear or received an all clear from the RAVE alert.
- Follow instructions from Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ emergency personnel or campus police.
- Seek medical attention if needed, and report any injuries or missing persons to Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ staff.
Reunification locations will be established and communicated through Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ Alert and
official channels. Avoid returning to the scene until it is declared safe.
Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ provides counseling and emotional support services.
- Familiarize yourself with your surroundings, including exits and potential hiding spots.
- Sign up for Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ Alert to receive emergency notifications.
- Participate in campus safety trainings and drills when offered.
Report any suspicious activity or individuals immediately to Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ Campus Police. If
you believe there is an imminent threat, call 911.
